Restart

On February 28th this year, a senior worker retired and I became the oldest staff member in our department. The retirement day in our company is the last day of the month of the employee's 60th birthday. I was born in June 1957, so my retirement day will be June 30, 2017. Although I like my job and I have enjoyed working, I have only 2 years until my retirement day. During the 2 years, I will keep a blog in English.
About 10 years ago, I decided to start keeping an English blog every day and continued for over a year. However, after seeing little improvement in my English I got tired of keeping it, so I eventually gave up after a few years.
This time, I will continue for the remaining two years of my work, but not every day.

When I had just written here, the door bell rang. It was my husband's good friend, Kim. I went out to the gate in a hurry and said, "Good evening! I'm sorry but my husband hasn't come home yet."
"Hasn't he? I assumed that he would be home, as it already past 9:00. A parent-teacher meeting? " he asked.
My husband is an elementary school teacher and Kim is his senior. He had been a school principal for several years before he retired at 60. After retirement, he worked as the principal of a kindergarten for five years, and after that, from last year, he completely retired and has been enjoying growing vegetables in the allotment garden near my house, playing golf on weekdays, spending time with his grandchild and so on.
"Yes. That's right." I answered.
"I have some vegetables for you. Sorry, these are cucumbers," He said and gave me one of the two plastic bags.
Now is the harvest season of summer vegetables, so has often brought summer vegetables, red-leaf lettuces, leaf lettuces, tomatoes, eggplants and many cucumbers in the last month.
"My husband likes cucumbers and we have always eaten them quickly when you gave us some. I'm happy to be able to use them as much as we want," I said.
"I'm glad you are pleased. There are also some tomatoes. The big ones were from a man of the neighboring field and the small ones are mine. Big ones are so delicious," he said and gave me another plastic bag.
"Thank you so much. I always appreciate you taking the trouble to come here."
"My pleasure!" he said with a warm smile.
To tell the truth, I felt a little hard to restart an English blog, but his good smile and the harvests made me feel better and I was able to finish my first post.
